POSITION SUMMARY:
JVS MassHire seeks a Career Navigator to deliver innovative, customer-focused, and technology-driven career services to job seekers through the Masshire Downtown Boston Career Center. The Navigator, in collaboration with the Career Center team, will assist job seekers from diverse backgrounds and levels of experience who are receiving unemployment benefits with program compliance to ensure the continuation of their benefits. This staff member will also provide high quality facilitation of the Career Center Seminar and other workshops incorporating best practices in adult education and training. This position is located at 75 Federal Street, Boston, MA with some services being delivered remotely.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Accountability and Results Focused:
- Assist job seekers in maintaining UI benefits through monitoring the successful completion of all job search activities required for program attainment
- Deliver professional quality workshops that demonstrate knowledge of adult education techniques and workshop facilitation both in person and via Zoom; utilize technology for maximum engagement
- Establish, track, and meet program dashboard indicators using database software
Build relationships, collaboration and teamwork:
- Support and promote the mission and philosophy of JVS both internally and outside the agency.
- Function as part of both the JVS team to provide high quality employment services
- Interact in a team environment and to establish and maintain harmonious working relationships with key stakeholders (participants, colleagues, partner organizations, funders, etc.)
- Provide individual 1:1 Coaching to respond to job seekers questions about their career/job search
MINIMIUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- 1-3 years of experience in workforce development or related field required.
- Excellent organizational, presentation, and multi-tasking skills
- Experience in establishing/facilitating strong partnerships with external stakeholders
- High level of computer/technology proficiency including ability to maintain accurate records of services provided in a database
- Strong Microsoft Office Suite skills required
- Knowledge of MassHire system and regional employment trends is a plus
- Excellent communication skills (written, oral and platform)
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Experience working with and supporting a culturally diverse population
Education Required:
- Associate Degree in Human Services, Teaching, Counseling, or related field.
